So it’s important to have supportive relationships in our lives to help us become resilient. These relationships can help us overcome anything life throws our way.


What causes Anxiety and Depression in Children?


Anxiety and depression in children can be caused by many different things. Some children might have an easier time overcoming anxiety than others. Usually, the death of a close relative or friend, or having parents who are always fighting or separated, can lead to these changes. Sometimes physical problems like injuries or illness can also bring about these changes. Fear of examinations or having to move houses or schools frequently can also be a cause of anxiety in children.



Role of Child Rearing Practices in Anxiety



Child rearing practices refer to the ways that parents or guardians care for and raise children. This can include things like how they discipline their children, how affectionate they are, and how permissive they are. For example, if parents are very critical of their children or don’t respond well to their needs, this can make children more anxious and sensitive, which increases their risk for developing anxiety and depression. So it’s important for parents to be understanding and supportive of their children to help them grow into healthy adults.

Parents who are overprotective of their children may inadvertently make them feel like the world is a dangerous place. This can restrict their opportunity to experience safe risks, which in turn increases their vulnerability to even safe environments. This can affect their self-esteem and problem-solving skills.

When parents are too strict with their kids and try to control everything they do, it can lead to something called “trait anxiety.” Even something like a cold can be perceived as being life-threatening. This can manifest in the form of the child being overly concerned about any physical symptoms they may have. In a study, it was found that 8 out of 10 children with anxiety disorders had parents who also had anxiety. So if your parents are anxious, it’s important to watch for signs of anxiety in yourself so you can get help if you need it.

If parents are anxious in thought process, it might affect their children in care and attention that they need from their parents. This can make it hard for children to learn how to cope with the world around them, and they might become anxious adults.



How to Strengthen parent-child Relations?


The way that parents raise their children can play a role in whether or not the child develops anxiety or depression. If parents are overly controlling, critical, or protective, it can increase the child’s chances of developing these conditions. It is important for parents to avoid negative verbal information and instead promote a positive environment. This can help improve the parent’s anxiety as well as the child’s overall wellbeing.
